I take pride in how I’m too stubborn to leave work when I have things to do. Er... well, shit.

I do that too... I change all our vehicles with a good, synth oil and make sure all the minor maintenance stuff is done and we’ve never been stranded. I also do some volunteer work with a local hiking org - have you ever done any non-profit stuff? It took a while for me to find something that matched my skill set and was still adding value to an organization but I feel pretty good about it.

As you’ll all be aware by now it’s cleaning cars. You can’t be depressed because your concentrating on how to get the car removed of it’s dirt and debris while not doing anything to do any damage at all to the car or it’s paint. Plus there is something to show for it and happy owner. Which makes it really worth it.

And then it rains the following day. Suddenly, you realize you spent all day yesterday cleaning for nothing. Your depression multiplies compared to the day before. You could’ve spent that time replacing your wiper blades instead. Now your cars filthy AND you can’t see shit. Then BOOM! You just ran over debris in the road that you would’ve seen had you changed those wipers. Your depression worsens, as you wonder if you just knocked the alignment off. That’s when the vibration starts. Damn it! You’ve got a flat. Could this day get any worse? You pull over, jack the car up in the rain, replace it with your spare. Now you’re soaking wet. As you lower the car back to the ground, you quickly find the spare has no air. Son of a bitch! You’ve been so worried about keeping the car clean, you’ve never even bothered to check the air in your spare. You just spent the last 15 mins in pouring down rain for nothing. You aren’t going anywhere! Now you’ve hit rock bottom.

Lol. Rain isn’t always welcome but watching the tight beading build up and then run off the body is amazing (a couple of people have said they watch their car in the rain). The wipers are always checked. The glass always cleaned and sealed for the most part wipers aren’t needed if the weather changes. On all the cars I do. :)

I did non-profit work once, a couple years ago. I helped package food for soup kitchens in the Metro Detroit area; but it was for a class project...
